Barbara Farber is American but has lived in Europe for most of her life. She and her family resided in Belgium, Switzerland, and finally settled in The Netherlands, where they stayed for thirty-eight years. In 1981, she opened Galerie Barbara Farber in Amsterdam, specializing in cutting edge contemporary art. Upon moving to Provence she continued organizing exhibitions. She and her husband Jules were passionate collectors and she continues supporting young artists. As an ode to life in France, she wrote the book Surviving Provence, Romance, Reality and Wild Boars, a lighthearted amusing take on Provençal daily life. A book illustrated by Laurence Breeden, a Franco-American artist, lover of paints, brushes, pens, pencils, chalks, pastels, inks, papers, words and books. She taught languages across the globe before settlng in Aix-en-Provence where she continues to explore color.
