A roof for silence

The publication A Roof for Silence documents a travelling architectural and cultural project created by the architect Hala Wardé. This « miracle project », born of a special collaboration with the Lebanese poet and artist Etel Adnan, is conceived from one of her painted works entitled Olivéa: A Tribute to the Goddess of the Olive Tree, and through observation, in the Lebanese hinterland, of an ensemble of sixteen ancient olive trees with trunks hollowed out by the years: a living ensemble from a time that's stepped out of time. This composition in four parts, around a central and essential architectural space: a Roof for Silence. A Roof for Silence sets up a dialogue between several eras and disciplines, notably painting, poetry, music and photography, thanks to the contribution of Lebanese and international artists such as Paul Virilio, Alain Fleischer et Fouad Elkoury.
